This 120,000-word study explores the hidden history of 100+ Dutch-inspired cycle tracks built by the 1930s Ministry of Transport ostensibly to protect cyclists who dominated on British roads at the time. Twelve of these period cycle tracks have been evaluated for revamping. One of them was part of a £2.2 million DfT-funded renovation project.
