Carlton Reid wrote this 120,000-word study (it has a further 50,000 words in notes). It sprang from a successful Kickstarter project created in 2017 and was originally based on research carried out for Bike Boom (Island Press, 2017). It also received funding from the Department for Transport via Sustrans, the Foundation for Integrated Transport, the Happy Streets Foundation, the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund, and the Cycling History and Educational Trust.
Urban Movement, principally John Dales, carried out the renovation research and recommendations to local authorities report.
Online mapping was done by James Houston, who also worked wonders on the website.
